Enterprise Compliance Manager 8.2 automates licence management for publishers including Microsoft and Adobe; application of product use rights is an industry first
LONDON, UK, March 8, 2010 - ManageSoft, the leading provider of desktop to datacentre software asset management (SAM) solutions, today announced the release of its Enterprise Compliance Manager® (ECM) version 8.2. The product offers unprecedented automation to streamline the licence management process for popular software publishers including Microsoft and Adobe. As a result, ECM 8.2 will enable enterprises to rapidly reduce their software licence and maintenance spend.
ECM 8.2 is the only end-to-end software asset management tool on the market. It combines application usage analysis, purchase order data and software entitlements (including product use rights) to determine an accurate licence position and help optimise software licence consumption.
The high level of automation offered by ECM 8.2 will significantly reduce the manual effort required to create and maintain licence and contract records. For example, ECM can use a purchase order stock keeping unit (SKU) number to automatically deduce the type of licence agreement (e.g. EA, Select, TLP, CLP) and apply the product use rights to optimise software licence consumption. This is an industry first.
The new user interface wizards that have been added to ECM will facilitate the management of Microsoft Select and Enterprise Agreement contracts. Users are guided, step-by-step, through the setup of new contracts or renewal of existing ones. The wizards include the definition of licences, payment schedules, true-ups and their relationships with master contracts. All these features will make it significantly easier to optimise the SAM process and realise substantial cost savings.
“Many enterprises struggle to implement effective SAM programmes because of the daunting complexity and dynamic nature of licence rules,” noted Alan Swahn, ManageSoft's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Several SAM products on the market claim to provide licence management, but in practice they barely scratch the surface. In contrast, with ECM 8.2 organisations will now be well equipped to tackle the problem and achieve a rapid ROI. Our goal is to not only to help our customers to keep their estate optimised and in compliance on an ongoing basis, but also to enable them to save 15-25% of their software spend.”
